Dr Hugo Ford
MD FRCP

Dr Ford is a Consultant Medical Oncologist with a specialist interest in Gastrointestinal tract cancer. He qualified in medicine from Cambridge University and St Thomas’ Hospital in London, and undertook specialist training in Medical Oncology at the Royal Marsden Hospital and studied for his postgraduate (MD) degree at the Institute of Cancer Research for which he was awarded the Sir Lionel Whitby Medal. He has been a consultant at Addenbrooke’s since 2003 and is currently the lead cancer clinician for Cambridge University Hospitals

His special interest is in gastrointestinal cancer and his current research mainly relates to the mechanisms of sensitivity and resistance to chemotherapy drugs in oesophageal and gastric cancers.

He is a former member of the National Cancer Research Network Upper GI Clinical Studies group, and is the lead investigator for a number of multicentre clinical trials.

Dr David Gilligan
MB BChir FRCPE FRCR

David Gilligan is a Consultant Clinical Oncologist at Cambridge University Hospitals & Royal Papworth Hospitals, Cambridge, UK and an Affiliated Assistant Professor at the University of Cambridge.

He trained in Oncology at the Christie Hospital, Manchester, The Royal Marsden Hospital, London and University College Hospitals, London. His main clinical interests are in Thoracic Oncology – lung cancer, mesothelioma and thymic tumours. He is an enthusiastic participator in clinical trials with many peer reviewed publications and has a keen interest in patient engagement and patient information.

He has been a member of the NCRI Lung Cancer Studies Group. From 2016-2019 he was elected to the Council of the Royal College of Radiologists (RCR). He currently sits on NHS England Lung Cancer Clinical Expert Group (CEG). He is a Senior Medical Editor to Macmillan Cancer Information and advises other organisations on patient information. He is currently a Trustee and Chair of Grants Committee of the Roy Castle Lung Cancer Foundation, the major patient facing UK wide lung cancer charity. He has been a member of British Thoracic Oncology Group (BTOG) Steering Committee since May 2017 and chairs their Thymic sub-committee. He was an auditor and inspector for the European Organisation of Cancer Institutes (OECI) until May 2022.

He would be pleased to consult with Private Patients at Genesis Care Cambridge (Newmarket) and The Nuffield Hospital Cambridge.

Dr Margaret Moody
MA MB BChir MRCP(UK) FRCR

Dr Margaret Moody is a consultant Clinical Oncologist at the West Suffolk Hospital and Cambridge University Hospitals and an Affiliated Assistant Professor at the University of Cambridge.

She studied Medicine in Cambridge and did most of her early postgraduate training there. She then commenced her training in Clinical Oncology at the Royal Marsden Hospital in London where she was awarded the Royal College of Radiologist’s gold medal for Part I of the fellowship. She completed her oncology training back in Cambridge.

Her clinical areas of expertise are breast cancer (chemotherapy, systemic anti cancer treatment and radiotherapy,) lymphoma radiotherapy and palliative radiotherapy. She is Clinical director for Specialist Medicine and Associate Medical Director for research and development at the West Suffolk Hospital.

Dr Moody developed an interest in the quality of breast radiotherapy techniques whilst at the Marsden and was heavily involved in setting up and running the Cambridge Intensity Modulated Radiotherapy Trial. She has been the local principal investigator for numerous NCRI trials at both Addenbrooke’s and the West Suffolk.

She is happy to consult with private patients at Genesis Care Cambridge ( Newmarket) and The Nuffield Hospital Cambridge.

Dr Sarah Jefferies

BSc MBBS FRCP FRCR PhD

Dr Sarah Jefferies is a clinical oncologist at Addenbrooke’s Hospital and an Affiliated Assistant Professor at the University of Cambridge.

She has with a specialist clinical and research interest in treating adults with skull base tumours and thyroid cancers. She trained at the Royal Marsden and undertook a PhD investigating the potential genetic factors in head and neck cancer at the Institute of Cancer Research.

She has national and international leadership roles in teaching and training which include being the training lead for the Tessa Jowell Brain Cancer Mission and Course Director for the European Society for Therapeutic Radiology and Oncology (ESTRO) for CNS Tumours.

She is happy to consult with private patients who have diagnoses of skull base tumours or thyroid cancers at Genesis Care Cambridge (Newmarket) and the Nuffield Hospital Cambridge.

Dr Karen McAdam

Dr Li Tee Tan
MD MRCP(UK) FRCR

Dr Li Tee Tan is a consultant Clinical Oncologist specialising in colorectal and gynaecological cancers.

Dr Tan qualified in medicine from Charing Cross and Westminster Medical School in London. She began her clinical oncology training at the Royal Free Hospital, followed by a period at St. Bartholomew’s Hospital, before moving to the Clatterbridge Centre for Oncology where she completed a postgraduate degree in cervix cancer brachytherapy. She has a special interest in image-guided brachytherapy for cervix cancer having implemented the CT-based technique at Addenbrooke’s in 2005 and the MRI-based technique in 2009.

She chaired a working party for the Royal College of Radiologists to facilitate implementation of image-guided brachytherapy for cervix cancer in the UK, and has conducted workshops to help other centres implement the technique. She is the Clinical Lead for Radiotherap-e, the Department of Health e-learning programme for Advanced Radiotherapy Techniques. She was an examiner for the Final FRCR Examination in Clinical Oncology from 2004 to 2009 and has had a key role in restructuring the examination.

The Administrative Team 

On arrival you will be met by one of the Oncology Unit Administrators. This team is led by Andrea Estelle, the Oncology Day Unit Co-ordinator. The Partner’s secretaries, Tracey Aubury and Kim McShane, will help you to communicate with the consultants and deal with any matters aside from Nuffield Health.

The team also works with the catering department, and our hostesses will ensure that you get not only the nutrition you require, but that you get fulfilling tasty meals and snacks whenever you need them.

For your relatives, this team are your main contacts to update them on how you are during your stay. They will help find accommodation, arrange transport, and generally make sure that all of your non-clinical requirements are met during your stay with us.
